The North Carolina state bird, I grew up getting a flurry of excitement every time we spotted one of these in our yard. Now with our birdfeeders in Florida we noticed they always come in pairs - the striking red male and his subtle companion darting through the yard and playing. Cardinals are a sign of Comfort, many believe they are a heaven sent messenger of love for you.  
Whatever the belief, they are a beautiful inspiration in nature.
